J.W. Huberd got his start making boots for lumberjacks in the Pacific Northwest. In 1921, he concocted a leather treatment product from beeswax, pine tar and other ingredients to help ensure those boots lasted and kept workers feet dry. By 1929, Huberd Shoe Grease Company incorporated and set up shop in a building in McMinnville, Oregon.
By 1929, Huberd’s Shoe Grease Company was an established manufacturing company in McMinnville, Oregon. The building is still there today.
Lumberjacks in the Pacific Northwest trusted Huberd's products on their boots and leather.
During WWII, metal was hard to get so Huberd's was produced using glass bottles. Vintage cans and tubes can still be found online and in the backs of closets.
